16 Days of Action to End Violence Against Women

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. December 10 is World Human Rights Day. From November 25 to Dececember 10, we invite you and your community to take part in 16 days of Action to End Violence Against Women. On this page, you will find tools to raise awareness and take action to end violence.

Why do we have 16 days of Action to End Violence against Women? All around the world, women and girls are more at risk for some types of violence. For example, women are more likely to be sexually assaulted, and more likely to experience domestic violence. Men also experience violence. Sexist attitudes can prevent men from speaking up and getting help.

Seal-skin pin campaign: The seal skin represents women and men working together in harmony. Wear the seal skin to show respect and appreciation for all the women and men in your life.

Funding: A budget of up to $1000 is offered to each community in order to organize an event or community project during the 16 days of Action to End Violence Against Women. Complete the funding application form to submit your idea:

For Schools: NBHSS collaborated with the Kativik School Board to create lesson plans about gender stereotypes and healthy relationships. Each activity can be completed in 45 minutes. Download the lesson plans here:
