The NRBHSS would like to invite all the Nunavik communities to participate in the conception of a visual identity for the regional plan to eliminate tuberculosis in the Nunavik. A contest for the creation of an official logo for this project is thus being launched. This contest is open to all Nunavimmiut.
Contest Details and Rules
Logo Design
The logo must be original and must be created exclusively for the contest. It must contain elements related to tuberculosis and must represent Nunavik. A brief description of 150 words or fewer explaining how the logo represents the fight against TB must be submitted.
Other Criteria
Representation of the project topic and title, originality, choice of colours, legibility, versatility (the logo must be usable in colour, in black-and-white, reversed and on small or large surfaces) and overall impression will be evaluated.
The logos must be submitted both in colour and in black-and-white, on paper (8 ½ x 11) or in jpeg format. The artist’s coordinates (name, telephone, e-mail address and postal address) must be provided either on the back of the artwork or on a separate piece of paper.
The logos will be selected according to:
- visual quality: graphics, colours, font;
- representation: obvious link to Nunavik’s history and distinctive nature and its fight against tuberculosis;
- other qualities: originality, simplicity, ease of recognition, adaptability to various media, eye appeal, etc.
Copyright
The logo must be created by the participant himself or herself. It must be original and must not infringe on intellectual property rights whatsoever (such as another copyright or trademark). Winners agree to transfer intellectual ownership (including copyright) of the logo and/or slogan to the contest organizers.
The NRBHSS will not reimburse any fees resulting from the design or transmission of the logos submitted. The NRBHSS will not be held responsible in case of prejudice, loss or disappointment suffered by a person from the fact of participating or not participating in the contest.
Acceptance
By participating in this contest, the participants are accepting to comply with the official rules. The winner or winners and finalists consent to the use and publication of their name and photo by the contest organizers.
Right to Cancel or Modify
The organizers reserve the right to cancel or modify the contest as well as the right to make slight modifications to the winning logos.
Evaluation
The selection committee composed of Nunavik interveners and visual-arts specialists will review the logos according to the criteria listed in the present rules and the jury’s criteria.
Composition of the Jury
The jury will be composed of five Nunavik citizens representing different age groups as well as the artistic community and the Nunavik Department of Public Health. Jury members and their family members may not participate in the contest.
Eligible Participants
Eligible participants are the Inuit of Nunavik, including the artistic community. Workers from outside the province may not participate.
Prizes
Six creations will be selected and their creators will receive prizes (first prize: South-North airfare; two second prizes: North-North airfare; three third prizes: iPads).
