Health Profile of Nunavik 2011: Demographic and Socioeconomic Conditions

This profile compiles sociodemographic information on Nunavimmiut up to the year 2011. It covers demographic and socioeconomic conditions. The data are drawn primarily from the Québec Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS), as well as from the Canadian Census, the Institut de la statistique du Québec, the 2004 Qanuippitaa? Health Survey, and the Aboriginal Peoples Survey. This edition is more detailed than the updated versions, also offering written comparisons with other Inuit Nunangat regions.

Nunavik health profile 2021, Population aged 15 years and over

This health profile focuses on the health of the population aged 15 years and over. Based on data from selected medico-administrative registries, the document presents comparisons within Nunavik as well as with the province of Québec. It examines the trends regarding general health indicators, frequently encountered health problems and primary causes of deaths and hospitalizations. Lastly, the implications of the data presented in this profile on health programs and services to offer the region’s population are examined.

This profile presents hospital morbidity and mortality indicators, as well as sociodemographic data for the Nunavik population aged 15 years or more up to 2017. The data are primarily drawn from selected medico-administrative registries. This version served as the foundation for the 2021 update completed in 2024–2025, and therefore, the figures and information presented here are largely similar.

Health Profile of Nunavik 2015: Focus on Youth, Adult and Elders’ populations

This profile was prepared in 2015 to monitor and report on the health of the population. It summarizes the information for various health issues and social determinants of health, flags emerging trends, and describes needs that should be addressed by health initiatives. Taken together, its chapters provide a detailed consideration of health status and seek at identifying the factors that affect it in the region.

Nunavik health profile 2018, Health of mothers and children

This profile presents indicators specific to the health of mothers, children and families. Maternal sociodemographic and medical-administrative data, as well as perinatal and infant mortality rates, premature births, low birth weight, and primary causes of hospitalization among infants less than one year old, and between 1 and 9 years old, are presented up to 2018. The primary data sources are medical-administrative databases, the census, and data on demographic projections.
