Mission
  • The purposes of Tasiurvik are to operate a multi-use house where men, women, children and youth can learn from each other, reconnect, care for each other and build a strong community;
  • To offer activities and training programs to residents of Kuujjuaraapik, at Tasiurvik's multi-house, in the community and on the land;
  • To support the transmission of Inuit culture and values to the youths and families in Kuujjuaraapik;
  • To address and prevent problems faced by families in Kuujjuaraapik by providing men, women, children and youth with programs on issues such as parenting skills, nutrition, Inuit cultural values, anger management and conflict resolution, as well as activities such as cooking, sewing and land-based traditional activities with the assistance of Elders and knowledgeable people from the community;
  • To operate a community kitchen.

Mission
  • Qarmaapik House is a place where parents or guardians are supported to better meet their children’s needs, to improve bonds within their family and to instill traditional Inuit family values in the community.
Goal
  • The main reason for creating Qarmaapik House was to prevent children from being placed in foster families and/or sent to another community by Youth Protection. The goal would also be to help families in need and strengthen connections between youth, adults and the community with the assistance of elders with traditional knowledge and Inuit values.
Prevention Component
  • Offer counselling and training programs to parents or guardians; collaborating with elders whenever possible;
  • Help parents or guardians feel confident and competent in raising their children in a healthy and supportive family environment.
Safe House Component
  • Provide a safe and secure place for children (aged 0-17) and adults.

Mission
  • To deliver a range of services guided by principles that focus on building supportive relationships, facilitating growth, respecting diversity and furthering community development. Working with children, families and caregivers to enhance strengths. To build capacities and to promote healthy development.
Services
  • Coping strategies to support individuals struggling with substance use, psychological abuse and emotional trauma will be provided in a culturally based environment, promoting lifestyle changes with a safe, respectful and positive approach;
  • Develop, improve and build parent-child relations, bridging generational gaps through discourse, activities and compassionate care within families and the community at large;
  • To encourage families and individuals to integrate into the community, after long absences, to nurture love for the whole family unit and recognize the need for fostering this love even if the family dynamics change: to nurture creativity as a form of therapy, whether it be through art, dance, music, painting or story telling.

Mission
  • The Mianirsivik family house is an initiative of The Wellness Committee, who created the Family House as a safe, welcoming and healing place in Kangiqsujuaq to promote individual wellness and community wellbeing as a resource for the North.
Services
  • To offer a safe and welcoming place to the members of the community of Kangiqsujuaq;
  • To manage program and services for the well-being of the community members;
  • To be a place where we can heal ourselves and family members;
  • To organize and hold activities for the well-being of the community members;
  • Any other activity related to those previously indicated.
  • The Family House will be a safe and welcoming space where programs and services are offered to support Kangiqsujuaq community members on their journey to wellness and wellbeing. It will be a place for anyone who expresses a desire to heal themselves or their families to find support and encouragement. All judgement will be left at the door. All who enter here will be encouraged to do their best, recognizing that healing is a process that takes time.

Pituat Family House, a non-profit organization, opened on March 15th, 2022. It is dedicated to fostering a healthier community. The facility includes two main components: a family house with a gathering room and kitchen, and a short-term safe house for families. Pituat offers a variety of activities that promote healthy lifestyles, such as addiction support groups, cooking courses and clothing donations. Additionally, a small daycare is available to care for children while parents participate in these activities.
